Claygate has had a thriving Gardening Society since 1950 with a current regular membership of over 200 enjoying the activities it offers. It is currently affiliated to the RHS and Surrey Horticultural Federation.
It has a series of talks in the winter, garden visits and trips from spring to autumn and a Depot where your gardening needs from compost and manure through ‘weeds and feeds’ to gloves and twine can be purchased at practically cost price!
Our speakers are good fun, amusing and very willing to share their knowledge and answer our questions. All these talks take place in the Village Hall in Church Road, Claygate on Thursdays at 7.45p.m. The talks are free to members and are a great way to spend a dull winter evening. Visitors are always welcome and there are free refreshments at break time.
The Depot is on one of the Claygate allotment sites and is open every Sunday morning between late January and August. It sells everything from antkiller and string to Mypex and large bags of compost. Your goods are taken to your car and the service is efficient and friendly. It is, of course, also very local!
